This article features photos our customers sent us of wheatgrass mixed into their daily serving of rice. (What a cool cooking idea!) There is also a photo of wheatgrass added into a smoothie.
You’ve heard about the health benefits of Immune Solution’s Raw Organic Kamut® Wheatgrass Blend – Juice Powder.
But how do you incorporate the nutritional supplement into your daily meals, snacks, and beverages?
We have all the answers.
First, we’re making it much easier to incorporate wheatgrass into a variety of healthy meals. That is, we deliver the wheatgrass to you in powder form, which makes it easy to mix into virtually any meal.
(Conversely, if we delivered wheatgrass in its grass form, you’d have to juice or blend it yourself).

Ten Unique Cooking and Snacking Combinations that Incorporate Wheatgrass
From smoothies to juices to yogurt blends, salad dressings, smoothie bowls, homemade energy bites, avocado spreads, hummus, pesto, and wheatgrass “shots,” we researched ten ways to prepare food with our wheatgrass that taste good.
1) Add it to a Smoothie
- One of the easiest options is to add a serving of Immune Solution’s wheatgrass to your favorite smoothie.
- Start by blending wheatgrass powder with banana, pineapple, mango, berries, spinach, and your preferred milk.
- In our experience, wheatgrass blends well with pineapple and banana, as it supports a tasty flavor profile.
2) Make a Wheatgrass “Green Juice”
- Not much of a smoothie person? Go for juice! Combine wheatgrass with apple, cucumber, lemon, and ginger.
- The fruit and citrus add sweetness and acidity that balance the flavor and make it taste refreshing.
- Start with a small amount of wheatgrass (one serving) rather than making it overly concentrated.
3) Mix Wheatgrass Powder into Yogurt
- Stir a small amount into Greek yogurt or another plain yogurt (or choose your favorite brand or flavor).
- Add berries, honey, granola, or chopped fruit. We also like to add maple syrup, raspberries, and bananas.
- This makes a quick breakfast or snack without requiring a blender. You can also eat it on the go.
4) Blend it into a Salad Dressing
- Want to keep wheatgrass ready-made and liquid in your fridge? Wheatgrass powder works surprisingly well in a homemade salad dressing, and it maintains its integrity when refrigerated in liquid form.
- Try olive oil with lemon juice, wheatgrass, honey, Dijon mustard, and a little garlic for flavor.
- This is especially useful if you eat a lot of leafy greens (which you should) and want interesting ways to add new flavor to your salads.
5) Add it to a Smoothie Bowl
- Blend banana, berries, yogurt, and wheatgrass powder into a thick mixture in a blender or food processor.
- Add the mix to a large bowl, then top with granola, coconut, nuts, chia seeds, and fresh fruit.
- The toppings make the bowl taste delicious and look Instagram-worthy, too.
6) Put it Into Homemade Energy Bites
- Combine oats, nut butter, dates, honey, chia or flax seeds, and wheatgrass powder all into one bowl.
- Roll the mixture into small balls, bars, or squares, wrap each in parchment paper, then refrigerate overnight.
- This is a convenient way to incorporate wheatgrass into a ready-to-go snack.
7) Mix it Into Guacamole or Avocado Spread
- Add a small amount of wheatgrass powder to mashed avocado with lime juice, cilantro, salt, and perhaps jalapeño (if you like spicy food!)
- The avocado’s richness blends beautifully with the wheatgrass.
- This mixture can go on toast, crackers, sandwiches, or chips. It’s a great way to snack healthily.
8) Add it to Hummus
- Blend wheatgrass powder into your favorite hummus along with lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil.
- This is a great way to add wheatgrass into your favorite dip or cracker topping.
- You can also use it as a green accent in a vegetable dip or charcuterie board.
9) Incorporate it into Homemade Pesto
- Blend basil, olive oil, Parmesan, pine nuts, garlic, and a small amount of wheatgrass juice powder.
- The basil, cheese, garlic, and olive oil create a rich, smooth flavor profile.
- Use it on roasted vegetables, sandwiches, or grilled chicken or any meat you choose.
10) Make a Wheatgrass “Shot” with Lemon and Ginger
- The fastest route is often the simplest: combine fresh wheatgrass powder (blended into water) with lemon and a little fresh ginger.
- This approach is quick and doesn’t require adding wheatgrass to an entire meal.
- If you’re using powdered wheatgrass, whisk it thoroughly into cold water or a juice of your choosing.

One Tip for Cooking with Wheatgrass
As you’ll see in the photo, one of our customers cooked their wheatgrass into their daily serving of rice. That is fine; just don’t cook the wheatgrass powder for long periods. It is fine to add wheatgrass into rice while it is cooking, but wait until the rice is almost completely done before you add the powder.
The same strategy applies to anything else you are cooking with wheatgrass: Wait until the item is almost completely done cooking before you sprinkle in the wheatgrass.
